Since their deaths, a number of Hollywood actors have been resurrected in their CGI avatars, including the likes of Marilyn Monroe, Bruce Lee, Marlon Brando among others.

Late Hollywood actor James Dean will be resurrected in a Vietnam war drama called Finding Jack, according to reports. Dean, known for his work in movies like Rebel Without a Cause and East of Eden, passed away in 1955 at the age of 24. The news has been met with some backlash, with quite a few people saying that people who have passed on should be left in peace.

However, Dean is not the only one to have been cast posthumously. Actors like Peter Cushing and Carrie Fisher were also resurrected from the dead for 2016’s Rogue One.

Audrey Hepburn, on the other hand, came alive in all her charismatic glory for a commercial. Other actors who were reincarnated in a CGI avatar include Paul Walker, Marlon Brando, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Marilyn Monroe, Bruce Lee and Laurence Olivier among others.

While Audrey appeared in a Mars Bars chocolate commercial, Paul Walker, who passed away in a car accident on the sets of Fast and Furious 7, made his last screen appearance in the final product of the movie, which reportedly had approval from the actor’s family.

Marlon Brando was last seen in Superman Returns as the superhero’s father Jor-El. Director Bryan Singer had received Marlon Brando’s estate’s permission to do the same.

Festive offer

Acclaimed actor Philip Syemour Hoffman, who died due to drug overdose, could not finish his parts in the movie The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2. The makers recreated a digital likeness to get the job done.

Late Hollywood starlets Grace Kelly and Marilyn Monroe appeared in a CGI avatar in a Dior’s J’Adore fragrance commercial which had come out in 2011, several years after their deaths.

However, the one CGI reappearance that seemed to have irked fans the most is that of Bruce Lee, who appeared in a Johnnie Walker commercial in 2013. The primary reason why the ad received the backlash that it did was because till his death, Lee was a teetotaler (Johnnie Walker makes Scotch whisky).

Laurence Olivier too made a CGI appearance in the films Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.
