farm fires reported through satellite imagery in
Punjab were 42,676 against 30,207 last year, while there were 5,463 incidents in Haryana compared with 5,935 in 2018.

The report states that contribution of
stubble burning is likely to be around 2% for Delhi though the possibility of rain, mist and shallow fog may complicate matters. Light rain could end up adding particulate matter. On Thursday morning, PM2.5 level was 120 and PM10, 288.
Of the 1,903 complaints lodged by CPCB inspection teams, 51% were resolved till Wednesday. The nature of complaints relate to violation of construction and demolition waste management rules, unpaved and broken roads, garbage burning and dumping, unauthorised vehicles and biomass burning.
In Delhi a 111 cases of waste management violations were reported and fines of Rs 13,35,000 imposed. Some 62 dumping sites were also hauled up and fines of Rs 2,79,100 imposed. Further fines of Rs 2,40,000 were levied and 10 FIRs registered for garbage dumping.
Some 15 industrial units were found in violation of rules and fines of Rs 1,72,000 imposed. Various air polluting activities like operation of diesel sets and tandoors were observed and fines of Rs 64,000 levied. Unauthorised parking lots attracted fines of Rs 1,25,256.
The government continues to monitor the farm fire situation and sources expressed concern that adequate efforts were not made prior to the stubble burning season.
