Harsimrat inaugurates new Sultanpur Lodhi railway station

Badal also inspected the new passenger waiting hall by the name of Guru Kirat Bhawan which has been constructed at the railway station with thirteen arches on either side of the central dome in keeping with Guru Sahab’s ‘tera tera’ philosophy.

Union Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal Thursday inaugurated the state-of-the-art new railway station modelled on Sikh architecture and a multi-media centre besides releasing a book on the life and teachings of Guru Nanak to commemorate the 550th Parkash Purb.

The railway station, which has come up at a cost of Rs 25 crore, has been engineered to facilitate pilgrims visiting the holy city with the construction two under passes, raising the height of platforms and installing two foot bridges.

Badal also inspected the new passenger waiting hall by the name of Guru Kirat Bhawan which has been constructed at the railway station with thirteen arches on either side of the central dome in keeping with Guru Sahab’s ‘tera tera’ philosophy. Badal also inaugurated the multi-media centre and watched a fifteen minute documentary which has been created to showcase the life and teachings of Guru Sahab to visiting devotees with particular reference to Sultanpur Lodhi.

The Union Minister then released a book titled The Eternal Truth on the life and teachings of Guru Nanak. She also disclosed that the National Book Trust had published three titles – Guru Nanak Bani, Nanak Bani and Sakhian Guru Nanak Dev – to spread the message of Guru’s message. She said the books, published originally in Punjabi, would be translated into 15 major Indian languages and that Guru Nanak Bani had already been published in Urdu, Odia, Marathi, Hindi and Gujrati.

She said much more was being done by the Union government to facilitate pilgrims by starting special trains and flights besides taking up projects like establishing Chairs in the name of Guru Nanak in United Kingdom and Canada and establishing an Inter Faith Studies Centre at Guru Nanak Dev University.
