GREATER NOIDA: Focused on Swachh Bharat Mission goals, the
Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (
GNIDA) has decided to rope in an NGO to handle
sanitation and
waste management. It has set aside Rs 4.60 crore, officials said.
The NGO selected through the tender that was floated this week would have to ensure elimination of open defecation and manual scavenging, and help the authority with strict enforcement of rules, officials said.
GNIDA CEO Narendra Bhooshan said, "The NGO would also have to keep an eye on housing societies, bulk waste generators as well as contractors hired for managing, disposing, recycling or treating the waste." GNIDA wants to emulate the
Indore model, which has topped the Swachh Bharat survey thrice.
