President Bio attends extraordinary session of ECOWAS Heads of State

Sierra Leone Telegraph: 8 November 2019:

President Julius Maada Bio is today attending an extraordinary session of the ECOWAS Heads of State and Government, taking place in Niamey, Niger.

The Summit which is being chaired by the President of Niger and Chairman of the Authority of ECOWAS Heads of State and Government – Mahamadou Issoufou, will discuss the fast evolving political situation in Guinea Bissau, where President Jose Mario Vaz has fired the country’s prime minister.

This has led to a bitter power struggle in the country ahead of next month’s presidential polls, as Aristide Gomes, the dismissed prime minister is refusing to step down.

West African leaders will be looking for a political solution that could prevent widespread violence in the country.

At the end of the ECOWAS Summit, President Bio will travel to France to attend the Paris Peace Forum and UNESCO General Conference, taking place on 11th – 13th November 2019.

The Paris Peace Forum is the annual international meeting for all actors of global governance initiated by the French President Emmanuel Macron.

The maiden edition of the Paris Peace Forum was held in November last year, attended by 65 Heads of State and Government as well as 10 leaders from internationals organizations.

Following the Paris meeting, President Julius Maada Bio will arrive in Tangier, Morocco to attend the 12th Edition of the MEDays Forum which is taking place on 13th – 16th November 2019.

The MEDays Forum is organized each year, hosted by King Mohammed VI – the King of Morocco, as a platform that brings African and Arab leaders together to discuss common problems and issues affecting both the Arab world and Africa.

President Julius Maada Bio will return to Sierra Leone on 17th November 2019.

  1. Finally I have realized why schools in Africa has been practising one concept in the scriptures that states- “ The Rod is made for the back of fools”. African school teachers (both western and Arabic) have always preserved the culture of flogging or whipping the backs of students after boldly writing basic Alphabet as ABCD, or numbers as 1234, or Algebra as 1+1=2 on the blackboard with white chalk. Then reading and pointing to it with a cane, then giving textbooks, slates and exercise books and now tablets to write on, read and understand. If all those processes fail, then they have no option but to use the rod.

The point I am trying to make, is for the APC party members and supporters to accept that President Bio and Vice President Juldeh Jalloh are the Head of State and Vice President of Sierra Leone and (I hate to but I have to use it as a Rod in this forum). The President who is also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) should represent our nation in all important HEADS OF STATE meetings because he has to be accountable to the citizens that voted him to State House.

Let us continue to pray for travelling mercies for our President and I hope that he will continue to raise the status of our nation around the world.

  2. This President has been in office for almost two years, yet still having nothing credible to show for it. He resembles a crawling infant to me, that nobody is able to restrain,or get to sit down quietly and still.(lol) Today he’s here, tomorrow there, and in the days to come,he will still be running to,and fro, still be fretting, fidgeting, crawling all over the place,in search of nothing, achieving very little.(lol)

Again, its about time someone introduces Mr President to the tricks of the game – on how to achieve sustainable results: Its not how much you bite, and chew that matters, but how much you are able to swallow, and digest.(lmao) Its clear to me,that Mr president, and his crew have now found themselves legitimate ways to milk the coffers of our nation totally dry – extremely high travel allowances, fancy 5 star hotels, expensive food, Per Diem for medical emergencies, travel bonuses, totalling thousands of dollars, per person. Oh Mercy, mercy me!

Thousands of dollars flushed away for achieving absolutely nothing! Underhandedness? Damn right! Again for those who would want to argue, that’s not exactly what fleecing the system looks like, then together,we must find a new name,as soon as possible, for their inconsiderate, exploitation of the struggling masses.(lol) And do not be fooled, good people, this unproductive President, and his men, are escapists always ready to roll – bags already packed, waiting, for them to go,on an endless series of delusional, wild goose chases.(lol)

Of what importance,I ask you,are our Ambassadors, and diplomats now,if this President, will be representing our nation in every event, conference, and little corner in the world? I think it will be in the interest of our nation, and also beneficial to all of us,if they will embrace transparency, and let us know,in precise figures, the travelling expenses of the President; And most important, the total amounts already being shouldered by the State, since the SLPP assumed the reins of power…Rising Sun Will Rise Again.

  3. May God guide our Leader as he travels around the world. I have no doubt that our President will positively contribute to issues that will bring about a political solution in a bid to preventing crisis in the country.

My advice, bad precedent setting is a recipe for violence. It happened in Sierra Leone in 2015 when the former President sacked his deputy. The outcome was not healthy for their Party. African Leaders must put a stop to this act or else…another dark side of the political coin.
