Praveen Kumar Gupta

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the UP police Friday conducted searches at the Agra residence of Praveen Kumar Gupta, former secretary of UP State Power Employees Trust and UP Power Corporation Limited’s Provident Fund Trust.

Gupta, A P Mishra, former managing director of UPPCL, and Sudhanshu Dwivedi, UPPCL’s erstwhile director (finance), were arrested in connection with the investment of over Rs 2,600 crore of the state power employees’ provident fund (EPF) in the scam-hit Dewan Housing Finance Corporation. They are under three-day EOW custody.

On Thursday, the agency had conducted searches at Mishra and Sudhanshu’s residences in Lucknow.

“The government is not saying anything as on which date the investment was made in private financial institutions through wrong means. People want to know the details as to whom the government is trying to save and how such a scam took place,” Yadav said.
