The episodes from the Mahabharata have provided a great foothold for writers and artists to comment on contemporary living. They have often offered lessons that are relevant in the modern time as well. Written by Dr Ashutosh Diwan, Ghatotkach, an experimental play was recently staged at Sangeetsurya Keshavrao Bhosale Natyagruha at Mangalwar Peth in Kolhapur. The play revolves around Dhatotkach, the son of Bhim and Hidimba, who entered the battle field of Kurukshetra to support the Pandavas.
Abhijit Jhunjarrao, known for bringing innovation to the to field of theatre, directed this one of a kind play that highlighted the nuances of politics, warfare and the duties of a warrior.
