MUZAFFARPUR: It’s like a dream come true for the family members of Sanjay Kumar, who was killed in police firing on kar sevaks in
Ayodhya on November 2, 1990. Sanjay, who belonged to Sayeen village under Motipur block in
Muzaffarpur district, was the only person from
Bihar to have been killed in the Ayodhya police firing.
His family members remained glued to the TV set since morning to know about the Supreme Court verdict on the Ram Janmabhoomi dispute case.
Kritee Sanjay, the youngest among the two daughters of Sanjay, said, “Today, my father’s dream to build the Ramlala temple at Ayodhya has been fulfilled. The supreme sacrifice that he had made for the Ramlala has not gone in vain.”
Kritee said the family had to wait for almost 29 years for justice. “My mother Rambha Singh would have been much happier had she been alive today. She died in April this year,” Kritee told this newspaper over phone.
Her elder sister Smruti Sanjay said, “The verdict has paved the way for the construction of Ramlala temple for which my father sacrificed his life. Now his soul will rest in peace. It could be a coincidence that my mother died on Ram Navami this year.”
While Kritee was hardly two-month-old and her sister Smruti was two-year-old when their father died. “It was a tough time for the family to survive after my father’s death. But my mother encouraged us to fulfil the dreams,” Kritee said.
Sanjay’s friend Arvind Kumar Singh, who was also present at Ayodhya during the firing in 1990, said, “He will visit Ayodhya once the temple is built to pay obeisance to my friend who sacrificed his life for Ramlala. Apart from Sanjay, Kothari brothers from Kolkata were killed in the police firing on kar sevaks.”
