When veteran filmmaker
Martin Scorsese said that Marvel films weren’t ‘cinema’ according to him, all hell broke loose. Diehard fans were quick to jump in and attack the filmmaker for his comment. Several writers and directors of the
Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) have taken offense to the comment. And now ‘
Ant-Man’ writer
Adam McKay has revealed what he thinks of Scorsese’s criticism.
McKay said that he would like the legendary filmmaker to take some time out and at least see one film from MCU before jumping to conclusions.
The writer added that Marvel films have their own charm and several merits that can be noticed only once one sees the films. Revealing that he loves the Ant-Man films, he said that Scorsese should see one Marvel film first. McKay recommended ‘
Thor: Ragnarok’ to Scorsese, adding that he thought it was an awesome film.
Apart from McKay, producer
Bob Iger also defended the Marvel films. He said that while Scorsese was a revered filmmaker, who he greatly admired, he would be happy to get into a debate with him on this particular subject. He said Marvel made good movies and people should appreciate that.
