Bhojpur celebrates 48th foundation day
ARA: Bhojpur district, which was carved out of the erstwhile Shahabad district on November 10, 1972, celebrated its 48th foundation day ceremony with great pomp and show on Sunday at the local Veer Kunwar Singh stadium in Ara .
The foundation day function was jointly inaugurated by Bhojpur district magistrate Roshan Kushwaha , Bhojpur SP Sushil Kumar, Bhojpur DDC Anshul Agarwal, Ara MLA Anwar Aalam, Agiyaon MLA Prabhunath Ram, Jagdishpur MLA Ram Bishun Singh Lohia, Ara mayor Rubi Devi , district council chairperson Aarti Devi and MLC Radha Charan Sah alias Sethji.

Bhojpur DPRO Pramod Kumar said that various government departments had put up stalls highlighting the government's development and welfare schemes. About 40 such stalls that included those of DRDA , agriculture, education, health , Jeevika, transport, small irrigation electricity and others were put up.
Various cultural programmes and short plays and nukkad natak (street plays) based on some burning and relevant topics such as ‘Jan Jeevan Hariyali’, prohibition, child marriage, dowry system and swachhata proved to be a great crowd puller at the foundation day ceremony . Besides these, kho-kho, archery, quiz and painting competitions were also held at the venue .
Later, players who had performed well at the national and state-level competitions were felicitated by the dignitaries to mark the occasion.
