A medical store owner, Shailendra Kumar (52), was arrested for selling intoxicants to youths and other drug addicts from his shop at Indira Nagar under Pataliputra police station area in the state capital on Sunday.

PATNA: A medical store owner, Shailendra Kumar (52), was arrested for selling intoxicants to youths and other drug addicts from his shop at Indira Nagar under Pataliputra police station area in the state capital on Sunday.
Pataliputra SHO Kamleshwar Prasad Singh said police had come to know that local youths were getting injectable drugs, tablets and cough syrups of several types for intoxication.
He said one youth was caught injecting intoxicant in one his arms near the shop after which the matter surfaced Saturday night. Singh said the shopowner is a resident of Nadaul under Masaurhi police station area in Patna district.
“The shop, which was running on rent, was traced and the authorities of health department were informed about it,” he said.
The SHO said a drug inspector raided the shop and found several drugs which Kumar was selling illegally. “Kumar did not have a licence to run the shop. An FIR has been lodged by drug inspector in connection with the incident on Sunday and the shopowner was arrested,” he said.
The SHO said several drugs kept inside his shop for illegal sale were seized by the police.
