Deepak Chahar took six wickets for just seven runs, including a brilliant hat-trick, to hand India a Twenty20 International (T20I) series win Sunday against Bangladesh at the Vidharba Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur.

The 27-year-old from Agra became the first male Indian bowler to bag a hat-trick in T20Is. Chahar, who was deadly at both ends of the Bangladesh innings, removed openers Liton Das (9) and Soumya Sarkar (0) off consecutive deliveries in the third over.
Towards the closing stages, the right-arm medium bowler needed only 3.2 overs to destroy Bangladesh with his guile and deception, including a yorker to get the last wicket of Aminul Islam and set the record with a hat-trick.
Here’s how the indianexpress.com captured the moment:
3-0-7-4
Chahar’s hat-trick was spread over 2 overs and it began when he picked up the wicket of Shafiul Islam (4) in the last ball of the 17th over. Slowing down the pace of the ball, and deceiving the batsmen with variations, worked wonders for Chahar throughout his spell.
But do it with a wet ball simply showed his class.
Once again it was short of a length delivery which bounced quite high around the off stump. With hardly any pace on it, Shafiul went hard at it only to find KL Rahul waiting in the deep. This was Chahar’s fourth wicket of the night as his figures read a mind-boggling 3-0-7-4
A Five Star Show
With 31 needed off six balls, the onus to bowl the last over was given to Chahar. Mustafizur Rahman, who was on strike, went for the big hit off a rising delivery outside the off-stump, but perished for a duck as the ball went straight to Shreyas Iyer standing in a sweeper cover position.
At that moment he became only the fourth Indian to pick a five-wicket haul in T20 cricket.
The hat-trick ball
The dream spell concluded with a perfect yorker which rocked the off stump and got rid of Aminul Islam for a first-ball duck. The batsman did try to scoop it up, but it was too hot to handle. Chahar ended with figures of 3.2-0-7-6 in the series decider, the best in T20I cricket.
“I hadn’t thought something like this would happen, delighted,” he said moments after his memorable performance.
“I’ve just been wanting to work hard, it’s all god’s help that I’m here,” he added.
