HYDERABAD: Backward Classes government
employees of Telangana and
Andhra Pradesh from electricity and other departments want the Centre to make amendments to relevant Acts so that reservations to BCs in promotions in government employment are extended.
In pursuance of their demands, they are organising a huge meeting in
Vijayawada on November 13. The meeting will adopt resolutions on the charter of the demands and a delegation of BC employees will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief ministers of Telangana and AP.
BC employees’ welfare association leader Veerabhadraiah said the central government should provide reservation in promotions to them in central and state government departments.
Another leader Ganesh Ram Mohan said since Modi hails from a BC community, he should take special interest in ensuring justice for BC employees.
National BC welfare association president R Krishnaiah pointed out that the Supreme Court had given a direction recently in favour of introducing quota in promotions for BC, SC and ST employees in
Uttar Pradesh.
