Yikes, Miley Cyrus just went through vocal cord surgery and is currently recovering at home, according to People. Sources tell the outlet that “the surgery went well and she is resting up at home now” and that Miley “has known for a while that she needed the surgery.”

The recovery isn’t an easy process, and poor Miley will have to rest her voice “for several weeks while her vocal cords heal.” Apparently, this means remaining silent because “any strain will prolong the healing.”

Meanwhile, Miley’s boyfriend Cody Simpson is being super supportive. “Cody is by her side. They are still doing well,” the source says. “Miley seems very happy. Cody will make sure she isn’t bored while she recovers.”

This is the second time Cody has been there for Miley during a medical issue—he was also by her side when she was hospitalized for tonsillitis last month and learned about her vocal cord issue. Unfortunately, because the recovery process involves weeks of silence, Miley has had to put her recording plans on hold and won’t release new music until 2020. But a source tells People she is “doing great and will be back and better than ever early next year.”
