Warangal: 3 women jewel thieves held, 3 kg silver seized

Although they were arrested by the Matwada police this January, they are out on bail. This did not dampen their greed.

WARANGAL: Warangal police on Monday arrested a three-member gang and seized 3 kgs of silver ornaments worth around Rs 1.35 lakh from them.

The accused were identified as Masa, Shanigaram Pulamma and Gudipaka Radha of Issipet under Mogullapally mandal in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district. The modus operandi of the burglars is to enter the jewellery shop pretending to be customers, divert the attention of the employees and steal ornaments.

Pulamma, a vegetable vendor, and her relatives Masa and Radha, both agriculture labourers, formed a gang to make easy money. They began with a burglary in Huzurabad of Karimnagar district back in 2011. Since then, they were involved in 10 such thefts.

Although they were arrested by the Matwada police this January, they are out on bail. This did not dampen their greed.

The police identified the trio based on CCTV footage at the jewellery shops and took them into custody while they were trying to sell the stolen property at RNT Road in Warangal.

CCS inspector L. Ramesh Kumar, sub-inspector B. Subramanyeshwar Rao, Jangaon sub-inspector K. Srinivas and CCS assistant sub-inspector T. Veeraswamy were part of the team.
