Pat Sajak remains hospitalized after undergoing surgery last week, but is on the mend, the “Wheel of Fortune” host himself said.
Sajak, who is recovering from emergency surgery to correct a blocked intestine, said on Twitter Monday that he remains hospitalized but would be released soon.
“I’m so grateful for all the good wishes during my recent illness,” Sajak tweeted. “Happy to say that the worst has passed, and I’ll be out of the hospital in a day of two, then back to work (unless @TheVannaWhite has completely taken over!)”
Sajak’s “Wheel of Fortune” cohort Vanna White has filled in as host since he became ill.
White wished Sajak a speedy recovery on Twitter.
“Wheel of Fortune without Pat Sajak is like a word without vowels,” she tweeted.
“I’ll fill in the blanks until you return,” she added. “Rest up and we’ll be solving puzzles in no time. (Don’t worry, your job is safe! Well, pretty safe.)”
Sajak, a Chicago native, has hosted the syndicated game show since 1981.
