NTA JEE Main 2020 sample question paper for numerical question released

NTA JEE Main 2020: Much to students’ relief, the National Testing Agency (NTA) releases the mock question paper sharing the long-form or numerical type questions. This will be the first time when these questions will be introduced in the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main conducted to access candidates for admission to engineering colleges across India. This is also a pre-requisite exam to appear for JEE Advanced — entrance exam for the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

From 2020 onwards, the NTA will ask five long-form numerical type questions in JEE Main. Each question will be of four marks each, however, unlike the objective type questions, the numerical questions will not have any negative marking. Experts had remarked that these questions are likely to bring down the accuracy and hence the cut-off of JEE Main.

The move to include long-form questions came after, indianexpresss.com reported citicism by several players including universities, scholars, students, as well as the exam conducting bodies on only objective-type questions not being the right way to access students and urged for a ‘holistic assessment system.’ Read| Why are all online exams going objective-type and how does it fail the holistic assessment?

NTA conducts JEE Main twice in a year. The entrance exam will be held from January 6-11, while the April exams will be held from April 9 to 13, 2020. The exam began as central way to access students in 2012.
