Rangers have a number of celebrity fans around the world, and WWE’s Drew McIntyre is another who confirmed himself as being on the list last year.

McIntyre told BBC Sport a year ago that he supports Rangers because as a child, he was tasked with crawling towards either a Celtic or a Rangers shirt to decide his allegiance – and Rangers won.

McIntyre, whose real name is Andrew Galloway, hails from Ayr but resides in America due to his commitments with WWE, meaning he’s rarely back in Scotland.

WWE are currently over in the UK though, and a WWE Live event took place at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow last night, meaning McIntyre was back home.

McIntyre of course took the chance to show off his Rangers allegiance upon his return to Glasgow, and it was Rangers themselves who posted messages from former WWE Intercontinental Champion.

McIntyre noted that he’s not just a Rangers fan, but a fan of Scottish football in general, and even compared himself to the Gers in the way they had to go to the bottom, but are now on their way back up.

Having also showed off his Rangers shirt with Ally McCoist’s name on the back, McIntyre added that he’s glad to see Rangers v Celtic talked about all over the world again, even if he surely didn’t enjoy the September meeting between the two sides.

“I’m not just at any old show. I’m home,” said McIntyre. “I’m in Scotland and there are thousands of Scots out there ready to get crazy tonight. You might have noticed I’m wearing my Rangers jersey. I’m a Rangers fan, I think everybody knows that but more importantly I’m a Scottish football fan.

“Rangers and my career have been very similar over the past few years. I got fired, Rangers were relegated to the bottom. But both wouldn’t give up. The fans wouldn’t give up, my fans stood by me the whole time. We bought fought, fought, fought and we’re back on top. Now, Rangers versus Celtic is talked about across the world. Scottish football is being talked about again across the world and I’m a happy man. I’m on top of the moon and I’m ready to go out there and get mental and if I see you down the line, get ready to get mental with me,” he added.
