During her second visit in 2012, the music icon learnt transcendental meditation, which is now her go-to tool before writing a song or hitting the stage.

Today at the press conference for the event, Perry, who landed in Mumbai early morning, shared what she was looking forward to besides performing in front of her Indian fans for the first time.

Katy Perry said, “I am excited to watch some of the other people performing. I am totally excited to immerse myself in the culture this week in Mumbai. I don’t stay in my room and order room service. I go out and seek the world. I love people, culture and traditions. You are going to catch me on these streets.”

Festive offer

“I am going to a fun party. Going to meet some Bollywood people and hear some incredible bands. It has been a long time since I have been here,” the singer added.

Also present at the press meet was Bollywood actor Jacqueline Fernandez who is hosting the OnePlus Music Festival. Perry said that she was excited to be taken around for shopping and eating by Fernandez.

“When I was here for IPL (in 2012), I was just in-and-out, so I didn’t get to immerse myself, but this time it’s all about immersing and educating myself. I am excited to meet anyone who is interesting and has a great perspective, care, kindness and empathy for the world. That’s the kind of people I want to hang out with. I am sure Jacqueline is definitely going to take me shopping and eating,” Katy Perry said.

Towards the end of the event, the pop star, who has been making music for the past 11 years, said she has reached a stage in her life where she values work-life balance a lot more than she did in the beginning of her career.

Perry revealed she is not in a hurry to move ahead professionally and would rather pause and be “more present” in the moment.

“For me, after doing 11-12 years of music, four records and four world tours, I definitely have to strike a work-life balance. I am dreaming up new dreams and enjoying living after making a living. I don’t want to always be stressing out. I want to have moments with my family. I want to go and see the world. I want to take trips. When I am in Mumbai, I want to eat, and I want to taste all of it. It is not a matter of slowing down but a matter of trying to consciously be more present where I am,” Katy Perry concluded.
