What is there under my feet? - with Dr Sebastiano D'Amico at Il-HagarThe next in the series of public talks at Il-Hagar Museum in Gozo, will feature Dr Sebastiano D’Amico – from Malta University’s Geosciences Department – who will be asking “What is there under my feet?”

This instalment in the Saturday series of assorted talks will discuss science at the service of heritage exploration and conservation.

The talk, based on test sites in Malta and abroad, treats the use of multidisciplinary scientific methods for the benefit of all those concerned with cultural heritage sites.

Dr Sebastiano D’Amico is a Lecturer, Department of Geosciences- University of Malta, 2015 – present, he was Lecturer, Department of Physics – University of Malta, 2014 – 2015, Research Officer III, Physics Department – University of Malta, 2010 – 2014, Research and Teaching Ass., Earth & Atmospheric Sciences Dept., Saint Louis University (USA), 2007 – 2010, Research Fellow, Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia – Rome (Italy), 2005 – 2007 and Research Fellow, Earth Sciences Department, University of Messina (Italy), 2005.

He is also Vice-President European Seismological Commission (2016-present) and has peer review of manuscripts submitted to: Science, Journal of Geophysical Research – Solid Earth; Geophysical Journal International; Geophysical Research Letters; Bulletin of Seismological Society of America; Pure and Applied Geophysics; Journal of Seismology; Natural Hazard and Earth System Sciences; Journal of Geodynamics; Journal of Physics and Chemistry of the Earth; Near Surface Geophysics; International Journal of Geophysics; Earthquake Science; Asian Journal of Earth Science; Acta Geophysica; Natural Science; Journal of the Malta Chamber of Scientists; Journal of Environmental Science Research; Geomatics, Natural Hazards and Risk; Open Geosciences; Journal of Mathematical and Fundamental Sciences; Radio Science; Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration; Earth, Planets and Space; Construction and Building Material.

The public talk is taking place at Il-Hagar museum in St George’s Square, Victoria, on Saturday, the 30th of November, starting at 11am.
