2020 Skoda Octavia makes global debut, to arrive in India next year

Czech automobile major Skoda introduced the facelift Octavia, offered with plug-in hybrid along with a slew of technological upgrades. First broke cover in 1996, Octavia has been a bestseller for Skoda, clocking over six million sales globally. Offered in sedan and estate designs, Octavia is set to go on sale by the second half of 2020. India is likely to get the sedan version only soon after.

MLADA BOLESLAV, CZECHIA: Czech automobile major Skoda introduced the facelift Octavia, offered with plug-in hybrid along with a slew of technological upgrades.
First broke cover in 1996, Octavia has been a bestseller for Skoda, clocking over six million sales globally. Offered in sedan and estate designs, Octavia is set to go on sale by second half of 2020.
India is likely to get the sedan version only soon after.

The latest developments in Skoda design language are characterised by sculptural elements, precise lines and modern, clear surfaces. They lend the car an authentic, dynamic and high-quality appearance. The new sedan is 4.69 metre long, which is 19mm longer and 15mm wider than the outgoing model. Passenger room has shot up, along with hike in boot space to 600 litre, up by 10 litre.
The latest edition of the Skoda Octavia gets innovative full LED matrix headlights, each containing a module for low beam and high beam. Each module features 22 LEDs which can be controlled individually to generate a light beam consisting of several segments.

The Skoda designers have provided the fourth-generation Octavia with an all-new interior. The new steering wheel has been reduced to two spokes, can be heated as an option, and features a chrome trim.

The latest generation of the digital and individually customisable instrument panel (Virtual Cockpit) in the new Skoda Octavia comes with a 10.25-inch screen and is now even more user-friendly.

The new design not only sharpens the Skoda Octavia’s visual appearance, it also enables excellent aerodynamics. With a drag coefficient (cd) from 0.24 for the hatchback, the new Octavia is one of the most aerodynamic cars in the world in its segment.
The new Skoda Octavia is the second Skoda model to be available as a plug-in hybrid, after Superb. Its powertrains produces a total power output of 204 PS and has a maximum torque of 350 Nm.
The new Skoda Octavia is expected to be priced at Rs 20-30 lakh (ex-showroom).
