Ben Gibbard joined Lana Del Rey onstage to perform a cover version of Death Cab for Cutie's "I Will Follow You Into the Dark" during the latter's stop at Denver's Bellco Theater on November 4. The song is from Death Cab for Cutie's 2005 album, Plans.
Gibbard started off by singing the first verse and then sang the chorus, playing the acoustic guitar. Del Rey then joined, singing the high notes, floating above Gibbard's vocals.
"In Catholic school as vicious as Roman rule/I got my knuckles bruised by a lady in black," sang Del Rey.
During the show, Del Rey and Julia Jacklin also performed Jacklin's "Don't Know Hot To Keep Loving You."
Del Rey, who is on her Norman F**king Rockwell Tour, has been bringing out special guests at her shows, and more cameos look likely before the tour concludes on November 19 with a concert at Nashville's Municipal Auditorium.
Joan Baez, Sean Lennon and Chris Isaak were among the stars who recently shared the stage with Del Rey.
