Thousands affected as trains delayed till Tuesday afternoon
Hyderabad: The after effects of Monday’s railway mishap were felt even on Tuesday as many trains were affected till afternoon. Several long distance trains as well as MMTS trains were cancelled, while many others were rescheduled, leaving thousands of passengers in the lurch.
Among the affected trains were 77674 Kacheguda-Nadikude, and Kacheguda-Mahbubnagar.
Other trains like 57448 Mahbubnagar-Mirzapalli and 77675 Kacheguda-Miryalaguda were partially cancelled.
Meanwhile, teams from South Central Railway (SCR) worked through the night to restore the track and power lines where the mishap took place. With the schedule of many trains going haywire, passengers suffered delays and uncertainty.
In a tweet to SCR authorities, a passenger, Kallam Janardhan Reddy, said: “Is the train 12797 on schedule for today? Or is it delayed or cancelled due to MMTS derailment?? I am trying the Kacheguda helpline that you have shared, no proper information is being shared even they are not clear, please respond so that we can plan.”
Another passenger took to social media to express his dissatisfaction over the delays. “As usual, there is no announcement of the delays of MMTS trains at #hitech city station. Waiting since 45 mins and no train,” tweeted Raghu, tagging DRM Secunderabad and SCR’s official handle.
Meanwhile, after track restoration on Tuesday afternoon, long distance express trains ran on normal route from Kacheguda towards Kurnool side. The SCR, in a statement issued around 1.30pm on Tuesday, said: “The railway staff from various engineering departments undertook works in full swing to clear the derailed coaches of Lingampally-Falaknuma MMTS and Kurnool City Secunderabad Hundry Express trains so as to… make it fit to resume rail traffic at Kacheguda. Works have been completed and track has been declared fit for normal rail traffic with speed restriction on both up and down lines at Kacheguda Yard.”
