Dimapur, Nov. 12 (EMN): Nagaland’s lone Lok Shaba MP, Tokheho Yetphomi expressed sadness over tribal disunity among the Naga people and urged them to live in peaceful coexistence.

“There are 543 MP seats for Lok Shaba in India, out of which we only have one reserved for us. We think we are great, but we are not. We are not counted when we go out from Nagaland,” Yepthomi said while addressing the 8th ‘Sumi-Chakhesang brotherhood meet’ held at Shokhuvi village in Dimapur on November 12.

Yepthomi explained that it was time for Nagas to choose and make decisions for the better. He encouraged organisations and individuals to take active part in achieving the goals and objectives for peace and development in the state, instead of blaming the government.

“Nagas are 16 major tribes in total; we will stay, and live together forever,” stated Yepthomi, adding that it is the time for Nagas to accept each other and come together as one.

He further requested every Naga to “faithfully pray” for the Indo-Naga settlement, so that both sides meet and understand each other for a positive outcome.

The president of Western Sumi Hoho (WSH), Kakheto Zhimomi, in his welcome address, stated that the programme was organised not to only keep the spirit of brotherhood alive between the two communities, but also to ensure “connection” among the people in order to achieve peace, brotherhood, love and respect.

“We say we are brothers, but we end up fighting each other back in our roads and villages. We want to change that, and we will change that from this day onwards,” Zhimomi said.

The 8th Sumi-Chakhesang Brotherhood Meet programme was hosted by Western Sumi Hoho in Dimapur.
