MUMBAI: A 42-year-old entrepreneur was arrested in a year-old case where she was accused of cheating 11 people of Rs 12 lakh by offering vacation packages in luxury hotels. Her husband is wanted in the case.
Seema Patel and her husband, Raman, had floated a travel club at Andheri West last year. The couple advertised seeking memberships. They offered vacation packages of 12/ 24 /36 days in luxury hotels.
Over a dozen individuals took up memberships and paid up between Rs 75,000 to Rs1.5 lakh each. But when the members wanted to visit the hotels, they received no response from the couple. In 2018, some of the members approached Amboli police and registered a complaint.
Last week, Amboli police learnt Patel was arrested in Ahmedabad. On November 11, she was brought to Mumbai on a transit remand from Gujarat and arrested. Police said more cheating cases have been filed against the couple in the NCR and Rajasthan. tnn
