Gautam Budh Nagar Police Wednesday filed an FIR after uncovering large-scale irregularities in deployment of Home Guards and withdrawal of their salaries. “Gautam Budh Nagar police found substantial evidence that certain Home Guard officials were withdrawing inflated salaries. For example, if there were merely 10 Home Guards at a particular station, the request was being made for 20 officials,” said O P Singh, DGP UP Police.
According to police, data pertaining to duty schedules of Home Guards for the months of May-June was analysed to reveal that there were seven such police stations. In a particular instance, a Home Guard was present on duty for 2-3 days while the salary was withdrawn for the entire month.
Home Guards serve as an auxiliary to the police force. They do not have fixed salaries and are provided daily wages.
“A state-wide audit of all districts will be conducted in the wake of the alleged fraud by Home Guard officials in Gautam Budh Nagar,” said G L Meena, DG, Home Guards.
