The public is invited to an informational meeting and open house for the Northwest Fourth Street (County Highway 20) reconstruction project proposed for 2020.

The event is set for 6:30-8 p.m. Nov. 26 at the Brainerd Lakes Chamber of Commerce in the CTC room, 224 W. Washington St., Brainerd.

City officials, county officials and consultants from Bolton and Menk are in the design phase for the project.

The city was awarded $800,000 in Local Road Improvement Program funding for safety improvements along the corridor, which include a median at the intersection of James Street and Northwest Fourth Street. a roundabout at the intersection of Jackson and Northwest Fourth streets and a separated pedestrian trail for foot traffic. These upgrades, city officials say, will improve traffic flow in the area, improve stacking conditions in the southbound lanes approaching Washington Street and prevent traffic crossing at James and Jackson streets.

The public informational meeting and open house will serve to answer any questions from those in attendance and provide large scale drawings and layouts of the proposed final construction. No formal presentation will be presented at the meeting.
