A Scots student has spoken of his surprise after he saw a man walking down the street with a pug dog perched on his shoulders.

Connor Cassidy, 16, was waiting on a bus in Craigneuk Street in Motherwell when he spotted the man walking towards them with his black pug.

The student from Coatbridge whipped out his phone to capture the bizarre moment.

Connor Cassidy was bamboozled about how the pug was staying balanced

When he asked the man why he was carrying his dog in such an unusal way, he told him it was the pug's preference.

Connor said: "I've seen him a few times and we were talking to him.

"I asked him why he did it and he said 'that's just where the dog likes to be'.

"It's so funny.

"The dog's not got a lead or anything - it's just standing there.

"I videoed it because it was just so confusing.

"The dog looked like it was having a great time."

Connor shared the footage on his Twitter account where it has been viewed over 3000 times.

And many of his followers were in stitches about the video.
