African movie festival
The African movie festival will present shows on Nov. 16 from Cameroon, Ghana, Rwanda, Swaziland, Kenya and the Democratic Republic of the Congo at the Morris Movie Theatre, 12 East Sixth Street, in Morris. There will be three screening periods, each of which will show a short film and a feature film: 10 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. Each will end with a short discussion of the films.

Latterell Lecture: Nov. 18, 7 p.m., science auditorium; alumnus Dan Rutherford, PhD, is the program director for marine and aviation at the International Council on Clean Transportation. He acts as the ICCT’s chief representative to the UN agencies working on policies to reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions from marine vessels and aircraft.
Hong Kong democracy movement: Nov. 19, 6 p.m., Student Center, Turtle Mountain Cafe; two members of the campus community, who are from Hong Kong, will share insight and perspectives on the current social movement in Hong Kong.
Heid Erdrich: Nov. 21, 7 p.m., John Q. Imholte Hall 109; distinguished visiting professor in the liberal arts will give her second public lecture. She is Ojibwe enrolled at Turtle Mountain, interdisciplinary artist and author of eight books of poetry and prose.
