NEW DELHI: Police in Rohini have been put on alert to look for a Hyundai Creta car belonging to a Delhi Police inspector that contained important files related to two murder cases.
In his complaint, the inspector said that he had parked the vehicle at the parking area in his apartment and was about to head for a court hearing when someone drove away with the vehicle.
A case has been registered in Rohini and a hunt is on to find the vehicle.
In his complaint, inspector Brijpal Singh, posted with the outer north district, said that the incident happened around 11am on Monday.
He had left two files - one related to a murder case in Shahbad Dairy while the other related to a murder case in Swaroop Nagar - on the rear seat of the vehicle.
Following the incident, a case of theft was registered and search was initiated to nab the culprit.
Police have checked the CCTV footage from the apartment and are trying to look for the car.
The theft has put the cops in the district on alert since the miscreants might use the files or the Delhi Police logo fitted on the car to get away with crimes.
Personnel at barricades for security checks around Rohini have been alerted about the incident and all beat officers have been asked to keep a lookout for the vehicle. Fearing misuse, the special staff has also been roped in to assist the local police in tracking down the vehicle.
