PATNA: Police arrested a government teacher and four others for their alleged involvement in extorting money from vehicles and loot from Malahi village under Barh police station area in Bihar's Patna district on the intervening night on Thursday and Friday.
Barh SDPO Lipi Singh said that the government teacher was identified as Vipin Kumar and he was posted in Darbhanga.

“He used to carry a black coat with himself and posed as district transport officer (DTO) for extorting money from vehicles on highway or looting them with help of his associates,” she said.
Singh said that a police would contact Darbhanga district education officer to know further details about Vipin and his posting.
“He had kept his identity hidden before police. After his name flashed in media, some people from Darbhanga informed police that he was a government teacher,” she said.
SDPO Singh said that the other arrested persons were identified as Sujeet Rai, Pappu Yadav, Shrikrishna Singh and Vikram Kumar.
The SDPO said that a country-made pistol was recovered from the possession of Sujeet and Pappu. “Three live cartridges, two smartphones, Rs 5,000 and an SUV was also seized from their possession,” she said.

“The first to get arrested was Sujeet as police had got a tip-off from technical surveillance that he was planning to loot a truck loaded with iron bars at Barh. Police raided his residence in the village and arrested him. Later, all four also reached at his residence as Sujeet had called them for planning the loot and got arrested,” she said.
She said after the five were nabbed, it surfaced that Sujeet and Pappu were evading arrest in connection with a murder and the loot case was lodged with Namkum police station in Ranchi district of Jharkhand.
“They were also accused in a loot case with Alauli police station in Khagaria,” she said, adding Vikram was arrested in Muzaffarpur with 700 cartoons of liquor almost three months back.
