HYDERABAD: Task Force police on Friday arrested a 24-year-old refugee from
Myanmar for obtaining voter ID and Aadhaar card by furnishing false information to government agencies. Using the illegally obtained
ID cards, Sabekun Nahar Begum, the wife of the accused, who is also a refugee, availed benefits under the government’s KCR Kit scheme.
South Zone Taskforce team, along with Falaknuma police, arrested a refugee, Aziz-ur-Rahman, 24, a slaughterhouse worker from Kamatipura for illegally obtaining various ID cards including driver’s license, PAN card, voter ID and Aadhaar card.
Rahman, a native of Buthidaung in Myanmar, migrated to Hyderabad in 2008. The accused has a two-year-old daughter. “Using the ID cards, his wife claimed benefits under KCR Kit scheme,” Task Force inspector S Raghavendra said.
During probe, the accused confessed to the police that he obtained voter ID card by submitting power bill and later obtained other ID cards. “He was about to apply for a passport,” police said.
The accused was handed over to Falaknuma police for further probe.
