PUNE: Police on Wednesday arrested four persons, including the wife of a 38-year-old army jawan, five days after his body was found at Khed Shivapur, nearly 25km from the city, along the highway connecting Bengaluru.
An investigation by the Rajgad police revealed that the woman and her lover had hatched the plot of jawan Sanjay Bhosale’s murder after he had come to know about their relationship.
The police said Bhosale had come to his Rahatani home on November 7, when his wife, Sheetal, gave him water laced with cyanide.

Immediately after Bhosale died, Sheetal’s lover, Yogesh Kadam (29), and his two accomplices, Manish Madane (28) and Rahul Kale (35), took the body in a rented car and dumped it along the bypass off the Pune-Bengaluru highway.
A Rajgad police team, led by assistant inspector Dattatreya Darade, arrested all the four persons. “We have transferred the case to the Wakad police for further probe,” the officer said.
Rajgad police sub-inspector Samir Kadam on Thursday told TOI that Bhosale’s body was found on November 8 around 5pm. “We ascertained his identity with the help of a driving licence found at the spot. We also found a cellphone near the body. As we were checking the cellphone to trace his relatives, a woman called on the number and identified herself as the man’s wife,” he said.

“Sheetal came to the police station and told the officers that her husband had came home drunk on the night of November 7. The woman said she went to sleep in her bedroom around 10.30pm, while her husband slept in the drawing room. She also told us that she found her husband missing the following morning,” Kadam said.
The police said they found several discrepancies in Sheetal’s statement. “We checked the call record of her cellphone and found that she had sent messages to a number till 12.30am. When we asked her about it, she revealed the name of (Yogesh) Kadam. Sheetal also told us that her husband had gone out with Yogesh,” Kadam said.
A police team swung into action and took Yogesh into custody. “During questioning, Yogesh admitted to his involvement in Bhosale’s murder. He also revealed the names of Madane and Kale, who had helped them dump Bhosale’s body,” Kadam said.
The probe revealed that Yogesh and Sheetal had been in a relationship for two years. The woman was in Uttar Pradesh, where her husband was posted for a year. After returning to Rahatani, Sheetal had again started meeting Yogesh, the police said.
“When Bhosale came to know about the relationship, he started questioning his wife about it. Sheetal and Yogesh then hatched a plot to eliminate him,” Kadam said.
“Yogesh brought cyanide from an agro production company,” the officer added.
