South Africa pace-bowling great Dale Steyn termed Mohammed Shami as the best bowler based on the current form. Steyn, while interacting with fans in question-answer session on Twitter, when asked who according to him is the best bowler currently, replied "Shami on current form."

Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar was also impressed with Shami's skills and compared the fast bowler to a leopard who is always ready to pounce upon his prey.

"When he is running in. When the spider cam actually takes it, it is such a sight. It is almost like a leopard going for a kill," Gavaskar said.

"His seam position and wrist position is so good. The last-minute little flick of one finger to get the ball away and the last-minute flick of the index finger to get the ball in. Amazing. This is a skill that he has practiced," Gavaskar said off Shami's skill to swing the ball both the way.

The 29-year-old has been in a phenomenal form this season where he has taken 68 wickets across all formats for India in-only Pat Cummins has claimed more in international cricket this year (83).
