Planning for MCU Phase 5 is already underway. Marvel Studios has set five release dates for untitled theatrical projects through 2023. Black Widow, Eternals, Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Black Panther 2, and Thor: Love and Thunder have already had their release dates announced for the MCU's Phase 4. Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige made those announcements at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, along with a ton of Disney+ shows too.

The new Marvel movies will be released on October 7th, 2022, February 17th, 2023, May 5th, 2023, July 28th, 2023, and November 3rd, 2023. As for what these movies will end up being, that is the real question. One of the frontrunners is Captain Marvel 2, which has been officially announced, though no release date has been announced at this time. Brie Larson will be stepping back into the role, but there are no story details currently available. However, that should change in the near future.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was supposed to have been shot already, so one of the new release dates will likely go to James Gunn's return to the MCU. The director was fired in 2018, only to be brought back after he accepted a chance to take on The Suicide Squad for Warner Bros. and DC. Many fans were hoping that the next Guardians installment would have been one of the first projects announced for the MCU's Phase 4, but there was no way that was going to be able to happen with scheduling at this point.

Another option for one of those untitled release dates would have to be the new version of Blade, which stars Mahershala Ali. Kevin Feige announced the project and welcomed Ali to the MCU family at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, but he did not reveal a release date. This project has a lot of hype surrounding it and one can easily see it falling into one of these new release dates. Feige went on to detail plans for the Disney+ streaming shows, but did not go into any details in regard to future release dates after Phase 4.

Obviously, Marvel fans are going to want to see Fantastic Four, X-Men, and Deadpool on that list for upcoming movies. There is a good chance that at least one of those projects will end up hitting theaters within the next few years. Out of those three, Deadpool 3 seems like the most logical choice since Ryan Reynolds has been spotted at Marvel Studios over the past few months, reportedly to discuss how the Merc with a Mouth crosses over and behaves under the Disney umbrella. But, Fantastic Four and X-Men can't be too far behind. For now, we'll just have to wait and see. The Marvel news was first reported by The Wrap.
