SECUNDERABAD: A proposal to install 200 traffic signals in the city is yet to take off.
Though the plan was drafted in July, works are yet to be taken up.
“Bharat Electronics Ltd maintains all the signals and their contract period expires in March. Only after March, we will call for new tenders,” said a senior Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) official.
According to traffic cops, Padmarao Nagar junction has not been shortlisted among the places identified to set up the signals
“As Padmarao Nagar junction is a small junction, it has not been shortlisted for installing a signal there,” said RB Rangaiah, additional commissioner of police (traffic), Mahankali division.

Civic officials and traffic police will study the technology used in Bengaluru for traffic signal systems and maintenance inorder to apply the techniques in navigating the city’s roads.
