Anti-encroachment drive: Mandi secretary’s vehicle used to crush vegetables in UP, video goes viral

An official vehicle of the mandi secretary in Hapur ran over the farm produce put up for sale by vegetable vendors at a makeshift point on the road in the Naveen Mandi area of Uttar Pradesh, in an anti-encroachment drive. However this anti-encroachment drive has evoked severe criticism. In a video of the incident, that has gone viral, the car is purportedly seen mowing the vegetables, reversing and then returning to crush the goods again even as vendors protest. The official is not present in the car at that time . The vendors claimed that they were not even given any notice about “the crackdown”.
