Five dead as car hits auto in Nizamabad

Five people died after the auto they were travelling in was hit by a four-wheeler coming from the opposite direction, on the outskirts of Thanakalan Village in Yedapalle Mandal of Nizamabad district on Sunday. ​

HYDERABAD: Five people died after the auto they were travelling in was hit by a four-wheeler coming from the opposite direction, on the outskirts of Thanakalan Village in Yedapalle Mandal of Nizamabad district on Sunday.
The victims were identified as Hakula Balamani (56), Jakulam Gangamani (60), Kallepuram Sailu (65) and Chikkala Sailu (60), all passengers in the auto, and Shaikh Nayeem (35), the auto driver.

All of them were residents of Jankampet area in Nizamabad district.
According to the police, the auto was travelling from Kurnapally village towards Jankampet when the accident occurred.
The victims had gone to attend a feast arranged by the neighbouring Kurnapally village sarpanch at a dargah on Sunday afternoon. After attending the feast, they got into an auto to return to their village when the mishap occurred at around 3.30pm.
“The victims were travelling in the auto when a speeding Maruti Suzuki Ertiga rammed into the auto. The car flipped and fell on top of the auto. The person driving the car fled from the spot,” said a police officer from Yedapalle police station.
According to the police, while one of the victims died on the spot, three others died on their way to the hospital. One victim succumbed while undergoing treatment.
Following the incident, a case was registered under Section 304-A (Causing death by negligence) of IPC and police has launched a manhunt to nab the offender.
