John Woo did a recent interview and revealed that he’s not involved in the upcoming planned Face/Off reboot. Woo spoke with Deadline about the project and said that he has not been contacted about it. It was reported in September that Paramount was developing a new take on the film, which Woo directed.

Woo also discussed the latest on his The Killer reboot and turning down a chance to do a superhero film before the MCU was a thing. Highlights are below:

On Lupita Ngyong’o exiting the The Killer reboot: “There was a scheduling problem because she’s so popular right now! We rewrote the script and it took so much time…she had to leave for another project.”

On the lead still being a woman: “The biggest reason why I wanted to do this movie again because [I wanted] ‘the killer’ to be a woman — that’s exciting to me. It will make the movie have a different look.”

On not doing superhero films: “I don’t have that gift. I’m not a sci-fi guy — I don’t think I could make a good one. There’s so much imagination… I don’t think I can reach that level.”
