Kolkata: Kids shine at star-studded fest

KOLKATA: St Augustine's Day School (Barrackpore and Shyamnagar) recently held the sixth season of their annual inter-school fest, 'Augutsus Auxesis', a singing and dancing pageant. On October 31, the off-stage events included Augustus DramAblaze (duologue), Augustus Efficacy (best out of waste), Augustus Trendz (T-shirt painting), Augustus Acapella, Augustus Tidbits (non-fire cooking), Augustus AdMad (ad-making), and Augustus Fragrance (ornament making).
On November 1, 'Auxesis for Juniors' was held for the first time. Kids from several schools amazed the audience with their choirs, spoofs and dance in events like Augustus Spotlight, Augustus MudraSteps (group dance), Augustus Ensemble (choir performance) and Augustus World of Fantasy (fashion show). The day concluded with singer Somlata Acharyya's performance and chief guest actor Aparajita Adhya's address.
On the final day, the events for seniors included Augustus Rhythm, based on international dance (folk style), Augustus RapSonic (singing and rapping) and Augustus Hall of Fame. The participants also performed stand-up comedy.
Singer Akriti Kakkar was the guest performer for the day. Chief guest, actor Ranjit Mallick, also spoke at the event. Singer Dron Acharya, actor Subhasis Mukhopadhyay and RJ Nilanjan were the other distinguished guests present. "We thank all the schools for their cooperation,'' said J Biswas, principal of St Augustine's School, Barrackpore.
