Medics confirmed a man died at the scene of a horrific crash between a pedestrian and a lorry on a major dual carriageway in Lichfield.

The man, who has not been named, was involved in the collision on the A5 just before 12.30am on Saturday, November 16.

Sadly nothing could be done to save him, a spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said.

They added: "We were called to the eastbound carriageway of the A5 at 12.28am on Saturday, November 16. A paramedic officer attended. Sadly, nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead at the scene."

Muckley Corner was closed off for a number of hours and a police block was put in place after the fatal crash.

Anyone with information is urged to call Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting log 19 of November 16.

Speaking at the time, a Highways England official said: Total Closure A5 both directions east and west at Muckley Corner (A461) and Wall island (A5127). Likely to be closed until morning.”
