Hyderabad: Railways hold meet on safety issues

The GM advised officials to carry out joint inspections across the zone to find root causes for failures.

HYDERABAD: South Central Railway general manager Gajanan Mallya on Monday held a review meeting at the Railway Nilayam with senior officials on safety of train operations. Divisional railway managers of Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur and Nanded joined the meeting via video conference. The subjects discussed included track fitness, speed restrictions and signalling systems.

The GM advised officials to carry out joint inspections across the zone to find root causes for failures.

He told them to ensure that loco pilots, guards and other staff get proper rest and work in a “stress-free atmosphere.”

It may be recalled that only a few days ago, an MMTS train collided head on with Hundry Express at the Kacheguda Railway Station.

The loco pilot of MMTS, who remained crushed inside his cabin for nearly eight hours, succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.
