Beed farmers’ protest enters sixth day
Pune: The Beed farmers continued with their protest outside the Oriental Insurance’s office in the city on Monday as a decision on the anomalies in the enrolment process was awaited till late in the evening.
“There are multiple issues with the entries. The central officials want to take a combined stand on all the different anomalies so that they can be dealt with at scale,” PS Murthy, deputy general manager, Oriental Insurance, said.
The company said it had cleared and released 100 claims of protesting farmers and “more were being worked upon”.
The farmers, led by Kisan Sabha, said they would not give in till all their dues were settled. “Most of the errors crept in during the enrolment stage. The common services centres made several mistakes and verification is becoming a task,” Murthy said.
