The closure was in place between the Ricoh roundabout and M6 island.

NEWS - Pensioner dies after being hit by car

From our neighbouring patch, some sad news.

An 81-year-old man has died after being hit by a car at the weekend.

The pensioner was in Stratford Road, near to the junction with Stanway Road in Shirley, Solihull, when the collision happened on Saturday evening (November 16).

He suffered head injuries and was taken to hospital where police said he was in a serious condition.

Accident in Lawford Heath

There are reports of an accident on Lawford Heath Lane near Coalpit Lane.

Traffic is currently coping well.

Heavy traffic

There is heavy traffic on the A429 Coventry Road inbound between Primrose Hill/Spinney Hill and A445 Coten End/Weston Close (St Johns Museum).

Full story on horses going rogue

Motorists today had a mare on the A444 after horses running loose closed part of the carriageway.

The incident was first reported around 11.10 this morning.

Police were on scene and cars were used as blockades as the horses ran across both sides of the road.

Traffic still slow

Traffic is still extremely slow on the A444 following the earlier incident with stray horses on the carriageway.

Police had neigh problems with this as it’s now been resolved and is fully open.

Slow northbound

Although the closure is inbound on the southbound carriageway, the traffic is slow heading north too due to people both looking at the incident and carefully driving past.

The traffic on the A444 is now extremely slow due to the stray horses.

Most of the problems seem to be between Winding House Lane and the M6 roundabout.

A429 busy

The A429 Coventry Road inbound is busy but moving between Primrose Hill/Spinney Hill and the A445 Coten End/Weston Close (St Johns Museum).

There is slow traffic due to an accident on the A444 Bedworth Bypass Southbound before M6 Junction 3 (Nuneaton/Coventry).

Van blocking bus lane

One of our reporters has said that as you turn on to Sky Blue Way from Walsgrave Road, there is a maintenance van parked in the bus lane.

This means buses and taxis are having to merge on to the lanes with the other traffic.

Approach with caution.

There is heavy traffic on the M40 exit slip road Southbound at Junction 14 A452 (Leamington).

Road flooded

Kings Newnham Road in Church Lawford is still closed in both directions due to flooding from Kings Newnham Lane to School Street.

The road has remained closed since Friday morning.

There is traffic congestion on the A45 Fletchamstead Highway in both directions around Broad Lane.

Train ticket acceptance

If you are travelling on the trains this morning between Birmingham and Wolverhampton, where train lines are disrupted, advice has been given on alternative ticket acceptance:

Problems on the trains

There is damage to overhead electrical wires between Stafford and Birmingham New Street this morning which is having an impact on trains from Coventry towards London.

The 8:31 train from Coventry to London has been cancelled.

Accident cleared in Leamington

The accident on the A452 Princes Drive in Leamington at Park Drive/Railway Bridge has now been cleared.

All lanes have been re-opened but there is still some queuing as a result.

Travel time is currently seven minutes.

The broken down vehicle on the M6 Northbound from Junction 2 M69 (Coventry) to Junction 3 A444 Bedworth Bypass has now been recovered.

The A452 Princes Drive in Leamington is partially blocked due to accident at Park Drive/Railway Bridge.

There is queuing traffic on the approach to this incident.
