Delhi: Fire breaks out at a paper godown in Alipur

A major fire broke out at a paper factory in Alipur on Tuesday afternoon. Fire officers say that the factory was being used to paper-rolls due to which the fire spread rapidly.

NEW DELHI: A major fire broke out at a paper factory in Alipur on Tuesday afternoon. Fire officers say that the factory was being used to paper-rolls due to which the fire spread rapidly.
Cops are inquiring whether the owner had a permission to store the amount of paper material or use the building as a warehouse. The firemen deployed 15 fire tenders to douse the flames.
Fire officers say that no casualties were reported till now.
Chief fire officer, Atul Garg said that they received a call about the fire around 2pm after which 4 fire tenders were initially sent to the scene. However, when the fire grew further more fire-engines were pressed into service.
Fire officials say that the nearby factories in the area were evacuated due to the smoke from the warehouse. The owner and the security guards are being questioned to find out the source from which the fire had begun.
