The Duchess of Sussex has climbed the ranks of the Lyst Index to be named as this year's most influential dresser, replacing make-up mogul Kylie Jenner.

The annual fashion report which analyses data collected throughout the year to reveal the biggest trends, revealed that Meghan, 38, has sparked a 216 per cent increase in searches for similar items to those that she has worn.

The mother-of-one who was ranked third last year, has climbed ahead of the Kardashian-Jenner clan to take the top spot. Kylie ranked as seventh this year meanwhile Kim Kardashian joined Meghan's sister-in-law Kate, in failing to make the top ten. 

Global fashion search platform Lyst collated data including sales, page views, global media coverage and social media mentions to generate findings on this year's biggest trends - from Meghan's outfits worn across Africa to Lizzo's MTV VMA style.

Stars of the music industry dominate the list, as the Duchess of Sussex is the only royal to feature in the top ten. 

Cardi B who ranked in fourth place last year has slipped to fifth as seventeen-year-old singer Billie Eilish joins the list.

Elsewhere, red carpet looks from the Oscars and Grammy Awards are ranked as the styles that spiked sales.

The Duchess of Sussex, 38, who showcased her knowledge of fashion by guest-editing British Vogue's September issue, had the most impact on the industry this year.

The five different shirt dresses that she wore on the royal tour of South Africa, boosted searches for the style by 45 per cent over a month. Meanwhile the Club Monaco dress that she teamed with navy heels while meeting Archbishop Desmond Tutu, sold out in less than 24 hours.

The Royal also boosted sales for J Crew, after she teamed a striped skirt with a black top for an engagement in Cape Town.

The Meghan effect has become a common phenomena with some social media users dedicating their platform to advising on recreating her looks and finding budget versions of items in her wardrobe. 

Meanwhile, her sister-in-law Kate, 37, achieved just 11th place in this year rankings after last listing in the top ten in 2017. 

2. Timothee Chalamet

US actor Timothée Chalamet, is the most influential man in fashion after demonstrating his experiment style at a range of red carpet events including the Golden Gloves.

The 23-year-old who rarely uses a stylist, stepped out in an embellished Louis Vuitton bib that caused his all-black look to stand out. Having made a name for himself in box office hit Interstellar, Timothée  also captured the attention of many when he chose to wear a sequin hoodie to the UK premiere of The King.

According to Lyst, his look sparked a 192 per cent rise in searches for men’s hoodies, and searches for Haider Ackermann spiked 806 per cent the week he wore one of the brand’s suit.

3. Zendaya

Despite not appearing in the top twenty last year, Zendaya has impressively been ranked the third most influential person in fashion 2019.

The US actress, 23, who made a bold appearance at the Met Gala in a light-up Cinderella gown by Tommy Hilfiger paired with a carriage-shaped bag and glass slippers, sparked millions of searches on Instagram.

Zendaya's iconic look saw the brand receive a 54 per cent increase in searches. She also boosted the attention given to Vera Wang after wearing a striking green dress to the Emmy Awards in September.

According to the annual fashion report, the appearance spiked searches by 33 per cent.     

4. Billie Eilish

Stealing the fourth spot from Cardi B, US-singer Billie Eilish has become the fourth most powerful dresser across the globe.

The 17-year-old who boasts over 40 million followers on Instagram is known for her attention-grabbing style.

She single-highhandedly increased interest in wearing neon green after wearing the colour throughout summer, as searches rose by 69 per cent.

Billie also got trend followers desiring BBCICECREAM, as searches spiked 211 per cent within days of her tagging the brand on Instagram. 

5. Cardi B

US reality star turned rapper Cardi B, who has frequently made headlines for her sense of style spiked searches for Mugler after wearing a vintage gown by the French brand to the Grammy Awards. 

The 27-year-old also impacted Fashion Week in September, when her outfits by Chanel, Thom Browne and Richard Quinn were amongst the most talked about online that week. 

Aside from wearing luxury designers, Cardi B has also sparked momentum in the fashion industry by collaborating with online retailer FashionNova.

6. Lisa, Blackpink

Fans of K-Pop have made Lisa from Blackpink the most influential star in South Korea, as she now boasts over 27 million Instagram followers.

The girl group member boosted sales of Celine's Triomphe bag by 66 per cent after she spotted wearing it in a series of photos throughout the year.

During Paris Fashion Week, Lisa teamed the accessory with a navy jacket and jeans for a casual appearance - complete with natural make-up.

7. Kylie Jenner

Despite no longer being the number one fashion influencer, Kylie Jenner continued to attract global interest in her wardrobe throughout 2019. 

The reality star spiked searches for floral milkmaid dresses by 66 per cent after she wore the style in August during her birthday celebrations.

She also broke wedding guest rules when her daring gold dress worn to Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin's wedding attracted more searches than the bride.    

The billionaire has had a busy year including a make-up collaboration with French luxury brand Balmain in addition to working with Adidas. 

8. Lizzo

US-singer Lizzo has drastically gained popularity for her music in recent years along with demand for her signature leotards, with searches rising 28 per cent year on year.

The 31-year-old whose hits include Truth Hurts and Juice, has often made headlines for her outfits worn for TV performances.

She stunned at the MTV VMA with an 80s lilac off-the-shoulder prom dress paired with silver accessories and glitzy heels.

According to Lyst, Lizzo's style has been attracting attention since September. 

9. Harry Styles

Harry Styles boasts almost 25 million followers on Instagram, as many flock to steal his style.

The 25-year-old, from Worcestershire, sparked searches for men's single earrings by 28 per cent from May, after he was spotted wearing the accessory to the Met Gala.

The singer who is known for experimenting with fashion, also increased interest in blue suits earlier this year after he was seen wearing a vibrant style in New York.   

10. Billy Porter

Breaking conventions, Billy Porter became the most talked-about red carpet moment of the year when he wore a custom tuxedo-gown by Christian Siriano to the Oscars.

The US-actor boosted searches for the designer by 101 per cent in 24 hours. 

His theatrical style has captured attention throughout the years, however the 50-year-old wasn't featured in Lyst's report last year.
