Tired Of Turkey? Here’s Where To Dine In Atlanta For A Nontraditional Thanksgiving Dinner

This article is more than 4 years old.

If this year, you find that Thanksgiving staples like turkey, stuffing and green bean casserole have become redundantly underwhelming, there are several Atlanta restaurants offering unique alternatives to your traditional Thanksgiving dinner. From noshing on oysters during Dantanna’s Shuck and Shell Happy Hour to hitting the ice and then filling up on sushi at Park Tavern, these delicious options are surely worth considering.

Feast On Seafood At Dantanna’s

Starting at 4 p.m., the Shuck and Shell Happy Hour at Dantanna’s (Buckhead and Downtown locations) will begin for eager diners. Whether you’re in search of Thanksgiving dinner or have already had your Thanksgiving meal and are ready for a post-dinner snack, the happy hour menu will feature $1 raw oysters and $0.50 peel and eat shrimp until 6 p.m. In addition to Shuck and Shell Happy Hour, diners can expect Dantanna’s favorites like Peppered Salmon Filet, Garlic Shrimp Fettuccine and a selection of high-quality steaks.

Explore Your Options At Mercedes-Benz Stadium

If you’re lucky enough to score a ticket to the Atlanta Falcons’ much anticipated game against the New Orleans Saints on Thanksgiving Day then you’ll be met with a plethora of dining options at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. In fact, dining at the stadium was ranked #1 in the NFL in a 2018 fan survey. Mercedes-Benz Stadium has garnered a great deal of praise from frugal foodies thanks to fan-friendly prices on hot dogs, local beer, nachos and other stadium go-tos. For more restaurant-friendly bites, there’s Delia’s Chicken Sausage Stand, Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q and Farm Burger.

Sushi And Skating By The Park

Tired of turkey and football? How about sushi and skating? The Rink at Park Tavern will be returning on Thanksgiving Day for those wishing to switch up their Turkey Day routine. Because hitting the ice can be very much hunger-inducing, rink and park-side dining is available for hungry skaters. Among one of the highlights on the Park Tavern menu is their fresh sushi, which is flown in from Hawaii. If ice skating isn’t quite your cup of cocoa, The Rink at Park Tavern also features stone fire pits, fireplaces and private cabanas.

Sip And Nosh At Hampton + Hudson

For those who are able to pass on turkey this year, but will absolutely not give up their Thursday night football, consider dining at Hampton + Hudson. The Old Fourth Ward restaurant will open at 6 P.M. on Thanksgiving and will offer thirsty customers a $5 beer and shot special, in addition to cask whiskey and beer pairing flights. A limited dining menu with bites like Crispy Brussel Sprouts and the open-face H+H Turkey Day Sandwich will also be on hand.
