As more companies direct their computing needs at the cloud, a new option is on the horizon, and Hamilton-based IT services company Gnosis is gearing up to migrate customers to the service. It has partnered with SALT Technology Group Ltd, which is bringing Microsoft Azure Stack to the island.Gnosis believes the Microsoft Azure cloud platform will allow companies to scale resources and access disaster recovery and back-up solutions in the cloud.“The software will allow Bermudian businesses to harness the power of cloud computing, whilst still being able to consider business and technical requirements such as regulation and compliance,” the company said in a statement.Neil Lupsic is the chief executive officer of Gnosis, which was set up a year ago. He is a former chief technology officer at Digicel Bermuda, and also worked on IT services used at the 2017 America’s Cup in Bermuda. The Gnosis team is based in offices on Front Street and provides a range of managed IT services.Regarding the partnership with SALT, Mr Lupsic said: “We are really excited about bringing the power of Azure Stack to Bermuda. This cloud technology will bring a whole host of tools to companies in Bermuda, enabling greater data security and flexibility of service.“Our team of highly skilled IT professionals will be begin onboarding a number of clients starting in January, and we’re proud to be chosen as a preferred partner of the Salt Technology Group Bermuda.”SALT, which has offices in Bermuda and Cayman Islands, has been granted the right by Microsoft to deploy and operate Azure Stack in Bermuda.Blair Lilford, CEO of SALT, said: “We are very excited about our Azure Stack launch in Bermuda and our partnership with Gnosis. As the approved Microsoft provider, it was important to ensure we find the right partners to align ourselves with.“Azure Stack brings unprecedented security and compliance to the region and guarantees data residency. We hope this will further strengthen Bermuda’s position as one of the global leaders for fintech and reinsurance.”SALT will host an Azure Stack launch event in Hamilton on December 3. Gnosis will begin customer migrations on January 1, and will manage ongoing operational support of customer workloads running on the cloud platform.Separately, at Bermuda Tech Week last month, SALT was mentioned among a group of companies offering “open financial ecosystem” support to the Bermuda Government’s plan to accept certain digital currency payments for government taxes, fees and services. • For further information on Gnosis and Microsoft Azure Stack, visit https://www.gnosis.bm/microsoft-azure/ or https://www.azurestack.ky or call 405-9900 for a free consultation.
