November 26 this year marks 70 years since the nation adopted the Constitution, but according to activists these have been years in which its tenets eroded, and people ignored it. In an attempt to remedy this, mountaineers and environmentalists Kavita Reddy and Jigna Modh are embarking on a 700-km Yatra for Constitution, which according to them is a walk/run to create awareness about the Constitution.

To be flagged off on November 26 from the Swabhiman Park in HSR Layout, the yatra will cover 10 districts from Bengaluru to Bidar. “There is no political agenda. The only objective is to create awareness about our Fundamental Rights and Duties as prescribed in the Constitution, for which we will interact with people, especially school and college students during the course of the yatra. Everyone will be given a copy of the preamble in Kannada,” says Kavita, adding that the initiative will be documented and presented as a photo exhibition later on.
