Todd Phillips is in talks to direct the sequel of 'Joker' and other DC origin movies

Todd Phillips' 'Joker' has been the talk of the town since the announcement. The film starring Joaquin Phoenix in the titular role generated a lot of conversation as the standalone DC film which scored huge at the box office.
Now, the film has created history for being the highest-grossing R-rated film. The film has garnered 1 billion dollars at the box office worldwide.
According to the latest reports, Todd Phillips has got the rights for at least one other DC story.And as the film crossed $ 1 billion at the box office, the director is in talks to reprise his role in the sequel of the film. Reportedly, he and Scott Silver, who also wrote the screenplay for 'Joker' will write the follow-up story. It is also being reported that, he pitched the idea - rights to develop a portfolio of DC characters' origin stories to Warner Bros. Pictures Group chairman Toby Emmerich.
Meanwhile, Heath Ledger's performance as the Clown Prince of crime won him the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor posthumously for 'The Dark Knight', the buzz around 'Joker' for Oscar's is going strong.
'Joker' was released in India on October 2.
